Benita and I grew up about 8 miles from each other. We both lived in Seattle, but at different ends of the city. We went to different high schools, different churches, and never met each other until our senior year of high school when both our churches combined the youth groups for a summer missions trip to the capital of Nigeria, Abuja. There were over 50 students to go. When work groups were put together, Benita and I ended up on the same work group, so we saw lots of each other. Since we both love to sing, she and I would start duets and before we knew it, the entire group would be joining us in praise songs. It was then that we began talking and continued talking after the trip was over. Within 8 to 10 months, I knew I wanted Benita to be my wife someday. Both of us were interested in full-time international missionary work and went to the same university in Georgia.
Benita and I now have been married two years and 5 months. We are still in school, but after graduation, we will be going to a Bible seminary to prepare for missions work.
I'm the first to admit that I am clueless when it comes to doing romantic things to show Benita how much I love her! It was easy when dating, because I followed all the typical flowers, cards, candy, and romantic dinners at restaurants. But now that we're married, I've found it harder to come up with new ideas. Because I really love her, I was determined to find some new ideas and that's when I found your site.
I meant to purchase the first ebook, 50 Ways to Romance Your Wife for Life. Usually FIRST in series are the best, so that's why I wanted that one. But, once the purchase was complete, I realized I had gotten the 50 MORE Ways to Romance Your Wife for Life. This is probably the best one for me. Even though I don't know what's in the first one, the ideas in THIS ebook are perfect for Benita and me.
Number 7 is not the first one I've used. I've used 3,19,20. But number 7 is the one I'm going to tell you about, because of the weird thing that happened as a result.
I took a picture of Benita to Kinko's and had them blow it up really big. I glued it, along with WANTED!!! written over the top on a big piece of cardboard with a stick attached for putting it in the ground. Underneath it I wrote: For Stealing My Heart! At the bottom, I wrote: Contact Authorities if You Spot This Gorgeous Woman!
Benita saw it coming home from work. I knew that if I put it close to the street, she would probably be embarrassed and bring it home in her car. So I put it far away from the street next to a building, where she would have to walk in wet grass and around a fish pond to get it. (Too much trouble, right?!)
When Benita came home she was grinning so big I knew she had seen the sign. But little did I know what a big deal it would become.
The next day, we got a knock at our apartment door from the police. The officer told us that some derelict had seen the sign, called the police office telling them that he had seen the woman and could take them right to her apartment door. He wanted to know if there was a reward. The police officer was laughing the whole time he told us about it, because he knew I was just doing something romantic for my wife. He brought the sign with him and said that he wanted us to get it back. Benita was home when the officer came by, and he said to me that I was a lucky man to have a wife that was worth all that trouble!
Benita loved all the attention that she got from the other apartment renters, the police, and me! When the police left, she threw her arms around me and said that of all the men in the whole world, she was blessed that she has me. Cool, huh?!
Thanks for the help. That is something I never would have thought to do myself.
Already thinking about number 17 for the next time.
